plumbers average 50% more calls on "Brown Friday" than any other Friday of the year.
The day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year for plumbers. Yep, Black Friday isn’t just a big day for retailers — it’s a big day for plumbers. In fact, it’s even been dubbed “Brown Friday.” According to Roto-Rooter, plumbers average 50% more calls on "Brown Friday" than any other Friday of the year. The main causes for the spike in calls are clogs in kitchen sinks, toilets and garbage disposals. A spokesperson for Roto-Rooter explains, "Often, the case is that a house already has partially clogged drains that go unnoticed, until holiday guests arrive and overwhelm the system. Even more problematic is that virtually every traditional Thanksgiving dish is a drain clogging culprit."
