Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell was honored with his own street in his hometown, and numerous Hip-Hop legends came to support him.
On Saturday, May 2, the iconic Miami artist, his family, friends and longtime supporters gathered as city officials renamed a portion of 11th Avenue between NW 58th Street and NW 60th Street in Liberty City to "Luther Campbell Way." During the ceremony, Luke was joined by his son, Blake Campbell, and kids from his Liberty City Optimist Club as Commissioner Keon Hardemon honored him. Fellow artists Scarface, JT Money and DJ Khaled also pulled up to salute Luke's latest achievement. Scarface even performed his classic "My Block" as a tribute to Luke.
"A lot happened that day. So many people shared powerful words at my street naming — but this moment right here topped it all," Luke said of Scarface's performance. "The legend Scarface came through and blessed us all. That meant everything."
Uncle Luke's street naming is the first of many to come in 2025. Earlier this year, the Miami-Dade County Commission voted to rename streets between 18th Avenue and 19th Avenue in Liberty City after popular Miami artists like Luke, Trick Daddy, Trina, Mike Smiff, Ice Billion Berg, City Girls and others. Some of the new street names include "Trick Love The Kids Street," "We the Best Terrace" inspired by DJ Khaled, "Bad Boys Bad Boys Street" based on Inner Circle's hit and more.
