Ja Rule Pays Homage To Irv Gotti While On Tour With Nelly & Eve

Ja Rule led a crowd of fans in a touching tribute to the late Irv Gotti before performing one of the most emotional songs in his catalog.

On Monday night, April 14, the New York native hit the stage at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. During his set, Ja Rule played a montage of images featuring the Murder Inc. Records co-founder as well as other deceased artists like DMX and Nipsey Hussle. His tribute segued into a heartfelt performance of his song "I Cry."

"We gon' do this one for them," Ja told the crowd. "“Gotti I love you n***a! X, I love you n***a!”

Ja Rule performed the song during his set as part of the "Where The Party At Tour" with Nelly & St. Lunatics, Eve, Fabolous, Chingy and Jermaine Dupri. The tour, which was announced back in December, began down under in Australia last month and made its way to Canada last week. It will continue to Europe and the U.K. until the tour reaches the U.S. this summer.

Irv Gotti passed away in February after suffering complications from diabetes. The esteemed producer and record executive was mourned by his family, friends in the music industry and fans around the world. Gotti, born Irving Lorenzo, was laid to rest several weeks later in his hometown of Queens, N.Y. Ja Rule, Ashanti, Fat Joe, Angie Martinez, and JAY-Z attended his funeral service.
